Equal opportunities

Equal opportunity is a key value in Swiss society. However, different opportunities are observed in the population, notably in regard to health. They can be seen to depend on the educational level and income, but also on gender, the family situation, the migratory context and the psychological health.

The Equal opportunity indicators are defined in the two national strategies "Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases" and "Addiction". Some specific indicators address this issue from the angle of the state of health of children and in the population, opting out of healthcare or in regard to children of families with a problem of addiction. Further information can also be obtained from the sociodemographic data for other sections. The Equal opportunities section below only lists a non-exhaustive selection of the most interesting indicators associated with the topic.

The data are presented in interactive graphical form with links to the sources.

A brochure (in English) and information sheet (in German) are also available on this topic.
