Diet, physical activity, obesity

Obesity is an increasingly present issue in Switzerland and can lead, for example, to blood pressure and heart problems and to diabetes. The whole population is concerned, including children. Nutrition and physical activity play a major role in the prevention or treatment of obesity. Furthermore, good nutrition and regular physical activity are beneficial to health in general.

The indicators Nutrition, physical activity and obesity are defined in the national strategy "Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases". They describe the situation in regard to prevalence, impact on health and on society. The population’s knowledge and opinion on the legislation are also described.

The data are presented in interactive graphical form with links to the sources.
